Military Program Manager

Job Description

A well-known manufacturing company is looking to hire a Military Program Manager for their suburban Buffalo facility. This position serves as the primary point of contact for assigned customers for all non-commercial issues and is responsible for managing the full program`s life cycle.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1) Before contract award:
  • Provide inputs to the organization to ensure the best sales strategy
  • Coordinate with sales, engineering, and operations organizations to ensure business case inputs are realistic and accurate
  • Maintain appropriate contact with the relevant customer program and technical organizations
  • Support the customer in the definition and selection of the optimal component or system


2) After contract award and until aircraft/product certification:
  • Lead assigned program activity within the organization
  • Create and maintain program scope document
  • Program level planning and resource management needed to meet customer milestones
  • Manage and control recurring and nonrecurring program costs and overall business case
  • Manage and mitigate program level risks


3) After certification:
  • Manage sustaining programs
  • Ensure a smooth entry into service for the customer and the organization
  • Maintain close contact to the customer to resolve/avoid upcoming issues
  • Serve as point of contact between the customer and the organization for any noncommercial questions
  • Manage government properties

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor`s degree in engineering field; MBA preferred
  • PMI certification preferred
  • 7-10+ years of project or program management experience in a technology field
  • Experience successfully leading large and international aerospace programs
  • Experience in military and government aerospace activities and business development preferred
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter who sets priorities and drives deliverables to execution with high autonomy Strong business analysis skills
  • Ability to provide program leadership, coordination, guidance and issue resolution
