Legal Assistant - Hybrid

Job Description

A prominent New York City law firm is looking to hire a Hybrid Legal Assistant. The Legal Assistant will provide a wide range of administrative and clerical support to a group of attorneys in the Healthcare and Business Services practice groups.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Primarily support the Healthcare practice group (Healthcare Controversies, Healthcare & Human Services)
  • Provide support to the Business Services practice group (Corporate, International Business, Restructuring/Bankruptcy & Creditors` Rights, Tax, Trust & Estates)
  • Draft and format pleadings, motions, orders to show cause, petitions, notices, RJIs and memorandums of law
  • State and Federal e-filing
  • Organize work load to comply with deadlines and priorities
  • Work with attorneys to facilitate the client in-take process
  • Maintain an organized file and records system
  • Schedule court depositions, court reporters, expert witnesses, hearings, and other special functions
  • Make travel or conference arrangements
  • Provide support to other Legal Assistants as needed

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of administrative experience in the legal field or equivalent 2 or 4 year college degree a plus
  • Experience in Healthcare practice highly preferred, Business Services experience a plus
  • Knowledge of e-filing and drafting/supporting pleadings, motions, and corporate-related documents
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, legal forms and documents, legal practices and procedures and how to resource
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, document management programs and Internet applications
  • Attention to detail including proof reading experience to include correcting grammatical, typographical and spelling errors
  • Multi-tasking and time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion
