A respected and growing Buffalo-based law firm is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney to join its team. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated litigation matters while taking on significant first-chair responsibilities and direct client interaction.

The firm represents businesses, insurers, and individuals in a variety of complex disputes and is known for its high-quality legal work, collaborative culture, and commitment to delivering practical, results-driven solutions for clients.

Position Overview
The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation skills, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage matters from inception through resolution. This role is well-suited for an attorney seeking greater autonomy, meaningful courtroom experience, and the opportunity to play a key role in a growing practice.

Responsibilities
  • Independently manage a civil litigation caseload from inception through resolution
  • Handle commercial litigation, insurance coverage, and other complex civil matters
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related documents
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences
  • Manage all phases of discovery and ensure compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and witnesses
  • Develop litigation strategies and provide practical legal guidance to clients
  • Accurately track billable time and maintain an annual billable requirement of 1,900 hours


$90,000-$150,000 based on experience with outstanding benefit package.

Job Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to practice law in New York State
  • 3+ years of civil litigation experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of New York civil practice and procedure, including the CPLR
  • Experience handling depositions, discovery, and motion practice
  • Commercial litigation and/or insurance coverage experience preferred
  • Prior experience in a billable-hour environment
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
