Job Description

Key Resource Group is proud and excited to be partnering with a Prime Government Contract Holder on their search for a Waste Disposition Manager to supervise the planning, storage, shipment of radiological and hazardous waste at a critical site in Suburban South Buffalo, NY. This is a Direct Hire opportunity with a starting salary of $140,000 - $160,000 based on experience, a fantastic total benefits package including a four-day work week. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Manage and maintain a safe and healthy work environment with established safe work practices and procedures including following all safety rules, use of proper personal protective equipment, and investigating and reporting identified safety concerns or situations
  • Implement company code of conduct standards, EEO practices, and DOE directives
  • Supervise and direct staff in waste processing, packaging, transportation, and waste generator services while providing functional support
  • Interact and partner as required or needed with DOE, DOT, other agencies, and the public
  • Develop technical guidance and oversight to maintain waste management procedures in support of project activities
  • Manage and resolve a wide variety of complex issues, effectively manage projects and special assignments, and establish priorities and work schedules to control cost and meet deadlines
  • Directly supervise a highly functioning team by developing and implementing special projects and resources, writing procedures and guidelines, and mentorship
  • Develop and execute short-term and long-term strategic plans
  • Recruit, select, orient, and train employees with a focus on maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment while developing personal growth opportunities
  • Establish department strategic goals by gathering pertinent information, identifying and evaluating trends and options, choosing a course of action, and evaluating outcomes
  • Manage financial objectives by forecasting, budgeting, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field of study required
  • Minimum of 6 years of waste management experience directly related to a nuclear environment required
  • Minimum of 2+ years of direct supervisor experience required
  • Valid Driver`s License required. Willingness to relocate fairly quickly is a must for consideration.
  • Preferred: working know, knowledge of DOE regulations for hazardous materials, working relationship or ability to develop one with DOE contacts, working knowledge of the RCRA act
  • Excellent leadership skills, mastery of waste management, knowledge of DOT regulations, ability to travel 10-20% of the time
  • Ability to start your day early ( 5 / 5: 30 AM) and work onsite required
